What We've Lost...

In America today, we have lost much of the wonder we once saw in our country. The frontier is closed, and space or deep sea are all that is left, leaving most of us without that dream to have. We have a rich history of heroes, from the founding fathers who faced insurmountable odds, to those who fell at the Alamo, to all of those who fought for civil rights in our country. Today has left us short on heroes with a face, heroes with a name. So today we look for those heroes. From the modern cowboy, changing little in the last 150 years, to the next generation of space explorers we anticipate going further than ever before into space. SO, who is your hero? Is it the cowboy, still working an impossibly hard job and overcoming the obstacles none the less? Or maybe its M.L.K. who was the face of the civil rights movement, who gave his life for the cause. Or maybe its someone else. Maybe your hero is you grandpa, or grandma, or even a nameless figure from the past. Maybe it isn't a person at all. Maybe your hero is an idea, immortal so long as one soul carries it. Me? I see a hero in everyone. You could save someones life and not know it. A smile. A friendly word. Being the only one up who responds when they are at their breaking point. So I say, maybe we are all heroes to someone. I have many heroes in my life. What about you? More so, how do you live your life? Could you be a hero? Do you try to be a hero? Maybe if we all started trying to make the world better and be a hero, we wouldn't have too look so hard for one.
